The Prince Without a Pauper (Or…) The Pauper With No Prince (Poem)
Written by Bennie Castle
– – – – –
There once was a Prince, without his pauper –
Shook, as lambs surrounded by Wolves, yelping, ‘Quick! Save my Life, pauper…
Let’s Exchange Clothes before those Bandits arrive!’
But gone a rye was his plan for help from his Savior…
Oh, the travesty,
your highness…
he calls for you, Pauper…
A proper form of entrance is of little use to the Pirates and Bandits,
with hands stretched out,
” Why, it’s the Prince without a Pauper…
Nay, the Pauper with no prince…
Tonight, you die & will be the last we see of thee! Rather, hear…”
the screams from outside the City Gates…
“Yes it is I, the pauper with no Prince…
To ye I announce
to have become King of one’s mind and the Prince of one’s own morality & Wisdom..
–
Let this not come as a surprise, my lord,
for tonight I keep my own robes.
Instead, keep thy own majesties
before the travesty of praying before prey…
Unto thy own false gods within reflections of mirrors and waters,
saying, ‘Look, a mere prince without his Pauper…’
says I, the Pauper with no prince.
